On a trip to Miami Beach I was walking down Lincoln Road , an open air pedestrian mall. Up in one of the palm trees was this huge communal nest of Monk Parakeets. They're larger than the familiar Budgies, but are just as noisy & social. They were twittering & chattering away, oblivious to all the activity around them. I was fascinated by them, and wanted to paint the scene. The unusual angle emphasizes the height of the Palm tree, and the world the Parakeets built for themselves there.
