This is a plein aire piece, which I don't paint very often. It depicts Pleasant Bay, a beautiful body of calm water off the Atlantic Ocean, right down the road from my house. As the sun sets, the orange light hits the far shore, while the close up reeds and water are enveloped in a cool shadow.
