Dad's Roses

11" x 14" oil/linen

Years ago, after my dad passed away I cleaned out and put his house on the market. There wasn't much to keep, mostly just old & worn stuff that would be donated. But the roses growing by the patio were such a beautiful red color, and so I dug them up & brought them home. They have been growing in my front yard for 12 years & doing quite nicely! The bluebird, my favorite bird, frequents the area where the roses bloom. This piece features the abstracted background which the detailed subject is set against, a signature style I developed in my work.
